Oscar Pistorius:
Ambassador For the Sole of Africa

After a good start on the first weekend of the Paralympic Games in Athens 2004, South African athletes have continued raking in the medals, with double amputee Oscar Pistorius putting in two very different but equally sensational performances in the 200 metres.
Pistorius, who was born without shin bones, captured the imagination of the Athens crowd in his qualifying heat on Monday when he fell at the start. Instead of throwing in the towel, he scrambled back to his feet and took off in pursuit of his opposition.
Incredibly, he not only caught up with the rest of the field, he passed them - his winning time of 23.42 seconds a double amputee world record.
On September 07 2006, Oscar became the first amputee (single or double) to run the 100 in under 11.2 , 200 in under 22 and the 400 in under 50.
Oscar is a shining example of of never giving up and we are proud to have Oscar as the Ambassador of the Sole of Africa Campaign. You inspire us Oscar!

Here is one incredible young man in many ways. He has courage and bravery, determination and grit written all over him. I really admired his parents in the way they bought him up. Oscar is a guy to be admired and respected and has become a role model to us all, any where in the world. He's a great guy doing great things when not studying or training. He is very modest and humble about somethings but the recent award from his own country proves how he is held in good stead. Oscar, bless, is much to modest for his own good and does deserve the award that South Africa bestowed upon him just like he deserves all those gold medals he has won. So Oscar GOOD LUCK in everthing that you are doing and will be doing in your life and remember you have inspired people all over the world and not just in your home country.
